The Gorgoen
Paljor Choling Lhakhang is situated at an altitude of 3000 meters above
Phojikha village. To reach this sacred monastery one has to reach Gangteng
monastery and than passing through Phojikha village and driving around 19 km
through rough rattling road, you are there up in the mountain. Nevertheless the
place is so beautiful that you immediately forget how you got it there.
This
monastery is a special monastery built by Zhabdrung Jigme Chogyal, the fifth
mind incarnation of Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal in the 15th Rabjung as
commemoration offering for the death of his father and mother.

It is said
that after completing the monastery, a statue of Guru Rinpoche was brought from
Talo monastery as the main relic of the temple.
On the way while reaching Bardong, the people carrying the statue could
not lift it from the place they have kept while they took some rest after a long
tiring journey.
When they
reported the matter to Zhabdrung Jigme Norbu, who acknowledged that he has to
send the Talo Gaylpo to escort the Guru Rinpoche Statue and immediately commanded
the Gyalpo to go. After that the statue could be lifted without any problems
and was brought to this new temple.
This sacred
Guru Rinpoche statue is the main object of veneration at the lhakhang and its
protecting deity is Talo Gyalpo Kuntu Zangpo.

This year
our company’s annual Kanjur recitation was done in this sacred monastery, the
place selected by Dasho Passang Dorji. I have gone there to represent our CEO
at the Kanjur recitation.
I got
immense opportunity to get the blessing from the sacred Guru Rinpoche and Talo
Gyalpo.
