Prayer to Avalokiteśvara (Chenrezig)
While today, Christian all over celebrates Valentine Day
concentrating love to only close and dear one, we Buddhist let us pray to
Chenrezig and extend our love and compassion to all sentient beings. Separately
let us also pray for the people of Syria, Iraq, Venezuela and other countries suffering unimaginable
hardships due to conflicts and terrorism.
We Buddhist believe that every person whose heart is moved by
love and compassion, who deeply and sincerely act for the benefit of others
without concern for fame, profit, social position, or recognition, expresses
the activity of Chenrezig. Love and compassion are the true signs revealing the
presence of Chenrezig.
Let us pray now:

ན་མོ་གུ་རུ་ལོ་ཀེ་ཤྭ་ར་ཡ།
Namo guru lokeśvaraya!
སྐྱབས་གནས་ཀུན་འདུས་ངོ་བོ་བཀའ་དྲིན་ཅན། །
kyabné kündü ngowo kadrin chen
In essence you are the
embodiment of all sources of refuge,
བླ་མ་སྤྱན་རས་གཟིགས་ལ་གསོལ་བ་འདེབས། །
Lama chenré zik la solwa dep
Gracious lama—Avalokiteśvara,
to you I pray!

Supreme among Buddha's heirs,

and savagery may be assuaged!

intentions and actions are made virtuous!

obscurations, faults and downfalls are purified!

master the supreme mind of bodhicitta!

carry out bodhisattva activity!
